things to know about Masai Mara

The location of Montana Mountain means that each and every season here comes with its own distinct benefits. For many visitors, that offers the opportunity to make several visits a year, and enjoy distinctly different experiences.

Regardless of the season you visit in, make sure you prepare yourself accordingly. If you’re coming in the summer, make sure you pack bug repellent as you’ll need it to stave off the black flies. And if you’re here in the early spring or late fall, bring plenty of warm clothes as the evenings can be chilly.

TEMPERATURES

Daily winter temperatures can range from -5°C to -20°C. In the summer, they range from the mid-teens to 30°C. Depending on your location, you may be well protected by trees.

For the trek we recommended bringing: a big bottle of water, packed lunch (you can also purchase packed lunch with the guide on the morning of the excursion).

Dress accordingly to the season, bring trekking shoes and a rain-jacket (if you do not have those, don't worry, you can arrange with the guide to provide you those items at no extra cost).

  • WHAT IS INCLUDED

The guide has spare rain-jackets, trekking shoes and helmets so if you are missing any of those items he can provide them for you (if you need to borrow equipment, please make sure to tell the guide at the moment of the booking to ensure thecorrect number and sizes).

  • ANIMALS YOU WILL LIKELY SEE

The trek is a standard-difficulty trek, most people are able to do it without any problems. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

We laughed the whole time, he made us feel welcome, he was super responsive on game drives, and took us to the most uknown places. I guess experience makes the difference.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What’s the difference between a safari van and a 4x4 Jeep?

A 4x4 Land Cruiser handles rough terrain better, offers more comfort and space, and gives you access to areas vans can’t reach. For a private safari, it’s 100% worth it.

  • Are 2 nights enough to enjoy the safari?

Yes! Both parks are compact and full of wildlife — 2 overnights gives you 3 full game drives and time to relax in nature.

  • What’s included in the price?

All transport, park entry fees, meals, overnight stay in the park, and private guided safaris.

  • What’s the best time to visit?

Dry season (June–October, January–February) is great for animal spotting. But both parks are open and beautiful year-round.

  • Can you pick me up from the airport or hotel?

Absolutely — we do door-to-door pickups from hotels, Airbnbs, or airports in Nairobi.

  • Is it safe to go on safari?

Yes — we prioritize safety at all times. You'll be with a professional, local guide in a fully equipped safari vehicle.
